Grayscale PNG should not be saved in 24-bit color. Changing them to indexed colors (or even grayscale) and running optipng, etc, significantly reduces size. Hopefully more scan groups will use it in the future.

(For comparison, quality 100 JPG is 2468 KB, quality 95 JPG is 1761 KB. So PNG beats JPG for clean B/W scans)
